When we look forward to a new year, we have hope it will be better than the last, that there will be less violence and poverty in the world, that we will weigh less and have clearer skin (ok, that one is definitely me:) and that we will make more money in our businesses than last year.
Hope is a beautiful thing when it comes to staying positive, but it is a terrible strategy for increasing your profits.
If you are serious about increasing your revenue in 2016, you need a clear PLAN.
When the path is clear, execution is successful.
Look at the New England Patriots. Love ’em or hate ’em, they have been a consistently great over the past several years with eight trips to the Superbowl since 1985. That kind of success does not happen on a wish and a prayer. Each season they show up with a detailed strategy for winning and so should you if you want to make more money in your business.
Here is your game plan for more money in 2016:
1. Have a clear vision of your goal and make your goal emotional.
Write out in detail your exact goal for the year. Then answer the following:
Why do you want to achieve that specific goal? What will achieving your goal do for you? How will it change your life or business? What will your life look like when that goal is reached? How will it make you feel?
Write this out and keep it handy. This is a really important step. You want to use the answers to these questions to visualize your desired outcome. When you do your subconscious brain goes to work on your behalf to bring your dream to fruition. You will also want to refer back to the answers when you feel a lull in your motivation to get you fired up and back on track again.
2. Be specific about the outcomes you desire. It’s not enough to say “I want to make more money this year than last.” How much money exactly to do you want to make? By when?
3. Be UNreasonable about your goals. Take whatever you wrote down for the last step and multiply it by ten. For example, if you said you want to make $100,000 in 2016, make it $1,000,000.
What happened when I asked you do to that? Did you get mad? Did you judge me and think I was being ridiculous? Did it make you feel scared? Or maybe really excited? If you didn’t have any strong feelings, then your goal is not big enough.
You want to be off-the-charts excited/going-to-throw-up-nervous about your goal. Why not aim for $1,000,000? So what if you aim for 7 figures and you only get $650,000? Not so bad, right? The energy you will put out trying to reach an outrageous goal will push way past what a reasonable goal you would have given you if you fully commit.
4. Plug, play and hustle. Now that you have your number, take a look at your offerings. Make a list of how many of each you must sell to hit your big goal. For example, say you have a $1000 bootcamp, a $5000 6-month coaching program and a $10k VIP Day, how many and what combination of each of those would you need to sell to reach $100,000? You could do 10 VIP Days or 5 VIP Days and 10 new coaching clients. Mix and match however you like, but create the plan.
Once you have the plan, hustle your buns off to make it happen. Your number one job in your business it to SELL. You are in business to change live and make money. Neither of those things are possible without selling so you must make sales the number 1 priority in your business.
There you have it. If you follow the steps above, there is no reason you can’t hit outrageously, unreasonable, AMAZING profit goals for 2016.
