Can we get personal for minute?
I want to know what turns you on.
“Did she just say which I think she said…?”
Hello, yes, I’m still here and yes, I did just ask, what gets you really excited? I mean truly HOT and bothered!!
Forgive me if I’m going too fast, but life is short and I want you to enjoy every minute of it.
You see, I’ve been doing a lot of soul searching lately and I’ve discovered something I hope is useful to you. Most of us are joy stoppers. Most of us only allow for a specifically allotted amount of happiness and abundance. And we are very stingy about HOW we think we can and should come by said bliss.
Pay your dues.
Success doesn’t come easy.
Sound familiar? I have been as guilty as the next diva buying in to this belief system, but I’m starting to change my tune.
As I mentioned last week, I’m still recovering from a very nasty bug. I’m feeling much better, but as a result, my vocal chords are swollen and raw and I can’t sing!
Of course, I’m very sad, but there’s been a cool side benefit to being vocally grounded. I’ve been playing the piano… a lot. Hours a day. I play when the kids get up, I play in between work sessions, I play after dinner. It’s been so much fun in fact, I’ve decided to work up my old repertoire and give some piano concerts.
When I mentioned this to a friend of mine, she said, “Heather, that will require hours of technical practice. Do you really want to put all that effort in?”
I thought, “YES!!!!! That’s sound amazing. I could sit at the piano all day long and practice scales, work on fingerings, building my stamina, repeating passages until they are perfect. Sounds like heaven to me.”
Would it be a lot of “work?” Yes, but would it be hard work? Would I feel like I was pushing a rock up a hill? Would I feel defeated because I had to pay my dues and work my way up? Unequivocally NO. It would be SOUL work, err, I mean SOUL PLAY.
Am I going to run off and become a full-time concert pianist? Probably not, but at the same time, I’m not going to rule it out because….IT MAKES ME FEEL SO GOOD to think about it!
I’m not going to be a joy stopper with my piano-playing. I am going to luxuriate in the sensual pleasure it gives me. Because here’s the thing, that FEELING permeates the rest of my life.
-It helps me be a tap into the parts of myself that I want to express in my BRAND.
-It unlocks my creative flow so I can be more productive and available to inspiration in my business.
-It emboldens me to be freer and more authentic in my interactions.
It totally ROCKS!
I want YOU to have that same experience as much as possible, every minute of every hour or every day. Because when you allow yourself to be a pleasure-seeking missile, you are unstoppable. You are more magnetic and by gum, dramatically increase your profit potential!!
So here are some steps to turn up the heat in your life:
1. Pay attention. Become a ruthless observer of your emotions. When do you feel excited, happy, turned-on, feel a sense of longing etc. Do more of THAT. AND when do you notice that feeling fading or being slapped down? Is there any real and present danger or is it your old story trying to keep your stuck?
2. Show the haters the door. You will have a chorus of people living, dead and virtual who will “tell” you your dreams are unreasonable, who will shame you for your passion, who will deter your from your ambition. Screw em’. They may be well-meaning, trying to protect you, but you don’t need protection, you need empowerment. Put your blinders on and keep following the scent of your joy.
3. Become a first-class fantasizer. When you are doing what you love, your brain goes into a theta state. You day dream, your intuition peaks, your creativity blooms exponentially. Notice where you are pulled in your fantasies. Are you sailing in the Mediterranean? Are you speaking to thousands of people? Are you running your own meditation retreat in Costa Rica? Pay attention and follow the thread. You don’t have to jump ship and do a 180-life-reversal. Just move one inch closer to your dream and keep repeating the process.
4. Do not chase money. This is huge. Do not exploit your passion, you will kill it. Don’t use it merely as a means to an end. Instead, go all in, become the best, devour your craft until you feel like you’ll explode, until it emanates from every pour in your body and then the money will come. Don’t do it FOR the money, do it because you can’t not do it. Do it for the FEELING it gives you. Do it for the PERSON YOU BECOME doing it.
I hope you found this helpful. You deserved to be lit-up like a Christmas tree. Not only will it make you feel good, it will allow your genius to come out in a powerful way to impact the world.
It is my mission to help as many people as possible live the life of their dreams, full of joy, abundance and a boat load of do-re-mi.
